This is my Classroom Arrangement for a second grade classroom. I am a history nut and love to have an organized space. I searched and searched for pictures that would go with my layout and stumbled upon Miss Lak's classroom pictures and fell in love with her theme. So for my pictures I chose to pull them from her website because the layout is similar to what I had in mind.

This layout is the ideal classroom environment in my opinion, very well organized, full of centers for the students and a maximized learning area.I obtained my floor plan for my classroom by using http://www.classroom-furnishing.com/JC-SCHOOL-FURNITURE/2nd-grade-classroom-layout.html
In designing my classroom I wanted a fully functional, uncluttered, and well organized classroom. Minimize unsupervised chaos as much as possible, and promote organized chaos instead :). I wanted to make sure each student has an individual locker for their belongings as well as an area to put each individual students take home items. Seeing as most classrooms are within a short distance of a restroom I opted to maximize my classroom size and opt for a classroom without a bathroom inside. I also wanted for my students to have a wide variety of learning centers and I will go through them each individually. Above is my floor plan for my classroom and is my optimal setup for the best learning experience.
This would be the first thing you see as you walk into my classroom. A door full of names, I believe this makes the students feel important knowing they have their name on something and I like this touch. I would also have a center not quite like this but it would contain the class motto and the rules, as well as a place to store items, such as the items that go home.
As you walk in you would see a world map, this is something that I would push for because I believe it is important to have these for students who have parents fighting for our country. This would be a great way to show them where their parents are and is a useful geography tool. In front would be positions a projector probably on the ceiling as well as the overhead projector. hopefully my classroom will be equipped with a smart board or nomad, which I could use but if not, I would use the projector accompanied with marker boards. On that note even if I had a smart board I would still want marker boards on each side so I could leave notes or daily tasks.
The students will be arranged in groups that interchange every couple of weeks, to keep the classroom having a sense of new atmosphere, plus some students like the front and some like the back. This helps change the attitude of the classroom up. I like the idea this teacher had of using baskets and arranging the students in five groups, each group being one of the major continents. This goes great with my love for geography and is a awesome idea of setting the classroom up.
This is my first center, it is a imagination station and would look something like this. It would be a place for students to imagine what ever they wanted and the decorations would change with each month's overall activity guide. So to keep up with the class I would change this area once a month so the student's did not become bored with this area and keep the decorations to do it all over again the next year.
This would be my library center and would be set up something like this. This would be an area for students to relax and read, and would be 1 on my map. I would have more seating than in this picture but it would look something similar to this.
This would be my writing center and it would be number 14 on the map in my classroom. I would have computer access for my students at this center to be used for specific learning benefits.
This would be the math center and would be where we meet for our daily math exercises.
This center would be used for vocabulary and spelling. The students would gather around for guided instruction as well as be called up for work to be graded/worked on.
This goes along with the library center but would be along the walls of the classroom. A wide variety of books as well as a list of genre's. In my second grade classroom we would have plenty of books, no shortage.
This in a nutshell would be my classroom. I would hope to add more detail and some things not in the pictures, but this would get me and my class by for now :).
